Jack’s second week of wrestling was his first OFFICIAL meet as a member of the travel team varsity squad. The whole team, including Jack, had a rough day.
Jack did some good things in his match … a series of high bridges that astonished everyone and then got to his feet and gained wrist control.
But he made a little mistake that the other (older) boy took advantage of, and Jack lost his match. (I’m especially fond of the bottom photo to the left … Jack, Chris and Ben all sitting, stunned, on the front row looking like they got hit by a truck … each of them lost his match unexpectedly.)
Owen had his second match, but I was with Jack at the travel team meet, so no photos of Owie this week.
Kevin said that Owen did a great job — despite two match stops to clean up his bloody nose.
Owen had to wrestle and older boy who outweighed him by four or five pounds (think about it … when you only weigh 40 lbs to begin with, that means he was outweighed by 10%).
Kevin said that Owen worked hard and did all the things that they’ve covered in practice and NEVER gave up. What a difference from last year …. stay tuned for good things from both of them!!!
