Owen is a fencer.
He has wanted to fence ever since he knew the sport existed. He’s been bugging us to get him lessons. We finally contacted the fencing school in the area (the highly regarded Bucks County Academy of Fencing. However, they initially said they didn’t start fencers until at least nine years of age. (Remember, Owen was only seven on Monday.) Kevin and I both pushed a little bit and pointed out that Owen has been wrestling at an elite level for over a year (2.5 hours long practices in a wrestling room of top-notch athletes ages 8-15) and is highly motivated and coordinated and they finally relented and let him sign up for the introductory program.
Tonight was his second class and HE LOVES IT!!! He’s already bugging me to sign him up for “lots of classes every week, Mom!” Even Jack, who went along tonight and never has anything complimentary to say to Owen, was impressed and cheered for him during his end-of-class bouts. Stay tuned, all we need around here is another sport.
