We like to go to Howell Farm in New Jersey to visit Santa. The farm is one of our favorite places and the Santa visit is very special. It was very cold this year and the kids needed some hot cider and popcorn to warm up before Santa arrived.

Then we had time to do some crafts (bird feeder ornaments for the bird tree and wool angels to take home) and visit some of the animals. Fiona had a close encounter with a pig, who snooted her in the belly. Here’s is the “Snoot-er”:

And here’s the “Snoot-ee” telling the story to Grammy of how the pig walked up to her and poked her in the belly with his dirty nose. Fiona was quite amused.

When Santa arrives, he comes up the lane in a carriage, pulled by Barney and Mac (the horses). It’s quite a sight.

The kids are getting bigger and almost all didn’t fit in the sleigh with Santa. Somehow, Jack ended up sitting on Owen’s lap, but Owen said it was so cold, he didn’t care ’cause Jack kept him warm. Santa spends a long time with each family group…plenty of time for talking and giving Santa wish lists.

I’m not quite sure what Jack told Santa, I was too far away. But at the end of the visit, Santa and Mrs. Claus give the kids little bags of homemade cookies….OR…bags of coal. For some reason (??) Jack got a bag of coal this year!!! (Although, he also got a bag of cookies.) (And, yes Owen IS somewhere there, underneath Jack.)
