I just remembered something else the boys learned from Sponge Bob. (BTW, Sponge Bob is one of my least favorite cartoons, because I believe that
it celebrates ignorance and has no redeeming values. At least the Ninja
Turtle fight crime). I think, although I’m not SURE, that this is also attributable to Sponge Bob (or "Spongie" as he’s affectionately known around here.)
Last weekend, we grilled fish. I started to put some salt on Jack‘s and he said that I didn’t need to. I looked at him quizzically, and he replied:
"It’s probably already salty from living in the briny depths."
"Briny depths???" BRINY DEPTHS???? B R I N Y D E P T H S????!!!!
What kind of kid talks this way? Where on earth is this kid getting this language from? I can only figure Sponge Bob. (It’s the only cartoon about the ocean that they ever see.)
Perhaps I need to re-think my Sponge Bob attitude in light of the upcoming SATs in ten years.
