in Jack, Owen, Wrestling

1The wrestling season begins.

The first intramural match of the year. Owen and his team were AMAZING.

Except for Owen and one other little guy, the whole team is made up of first year wrestlers. They’ve only had eight practices and they did just great … nailed their take downs, went for wrist control and NEVER gave up.

Jack wrestled an exhibition match to tune up for his season start next week. Unfortunately, the only guy available to him was a weight class above him, but Jack hung in there and won the match (despite a scoring kafluffle.More photos of both their matches are here.

2Fred, Mary Jane and Aileen were all there to cheer on the boys and Grandmom and DadDad made it in time for the match as well.

Fred and Mary Jane have sort of made the first match of the year into a tradition …  for the past couple of years they’re been on hand for the first meet, and Jack and Owen have come to expect them!!

So, although Fred and MJ have logged their share of hours in school gyms watching sports, it looks like they’ve got at least 12 more years of watching at least one wrestling meet a year.
